Nothing finished this week, sadly. However, I am making progress on my two current projects. The first is my Peggy Sue cardigan , which I initially started last summer at some point, then set aside. On picking it back up a few weeks ago I found what I had done was way too big, so I frogged and started again. At this point I’m maybe halfway done with the back, but it is going pretty quickly. I bought this kit from Craftsy – that old! So it feels good to be getting it done. The other project is kind of a made up thing. I signed up for a full moon-themed yarn of the month club with Dye Mad Yarns. As usual, I had no idea what I would make with these yarns, but that did not stop me. What I decided on is a crochet blanket with a block for each full moon. Because I am a literal minded person, each block will be a moon, made out of that month’s yarn, with a frame around it. I don’t have a pattern. I’m just crocheting in a circle until I run out of moon yarn, then making a square of night sk...

The title says it all – my Mothman socks are finished! The pattern is Above the Clouds by Annabeth Suchy, and the yarn is Chester Sock from DyeMad yarns. I have to admit I didn’t follow the sock pattern as such, just the colorwork, which I added in where I felt like adding it. The other modification I made is that the pattern calls for a band of Mothmen right above the bridges. But I opted for 1 Mothman and 1 pair of big red eyes, which is a common report when there are Mothman sightings around. I duplicate stitched the Mothman and eyes on as they were going to be kind of a pain to try and knit in. I’m happy with how they turned out! So this leaves me with one project on the go right now, my Peggy Sue cardigan, about which more later this week. Did you have a good Valentine’s day? Alternately, how was your Saturday?

Seafarer’s Balaclava is finished! The pattern is Seafarer’s Balaclava by Vanessa Ewing of Cape May Fibers , and the yarn is her Non-Superwash Aran in the Wuss Puss colorway. This is a quick knit, as you would expect with big yarn and big needles for an accessory. I really like this hood – it is warm and cozy, and the longer collar section protects really well against drafts down the neck of your coat. How does it look on? OK! I did follow the directions for if you want it more loose and hoody, but it is still tighter than I expected it would be. But that’s OK – it will likely stretch a bit over time, and I think it is still pretty cute. So if you are looking for a quick hood pattern to make, this is a pretty great option!

With the year’s first WIP done, I am focusing on two smaller projects right now – socks and a hood. My Mothman socks are coming along! As given, it calls for a band of Mothmen above the bridges. But I decided I am just going to duplicate stitch on one Mothman, as he is a bit more elusive than that. Who or what is Mothman? I bought this pattern and yarn as soon as I saw it and cast on shortly after it got here. It’s a unique design that should be great for keeping warm. Last week I posted my almost-finished mermaid sweater – this week it is done! The pattern is She Makes Waves ( Ravelry link ) by Natascha Tullock. I made a couple modifications to the original pattern – I did short sleeves for mine and added the little fish pattern band at the bottom. And all I did for that was copy a couple of the fish and bubbles from the main pattern and moved them down. But it works! The yarn is Cascade Anchor Bay in the Aqua Glass and Dark Teal colorways. Anchor Bay is a 50/50 mix of wool and cotton, which I picked because I thought it might be a little cooler for summer sweater weight. It’s actually warmer than I thought it would be, but that is OK. It is really soft, and wears like a good sweatshirt. I would use this yarn again – its a good mix! As it turns out, time flies no matter if you are having fun or not! It’s been a whirlwind of a month so far. It was my birthday last week, so had fun celebrating that. Also, my short break from schoolwork ended and I am back in class #4. As always, I am learning a lot and it’s interesting, but a LOT of work. I am getting some knitting in though! For the Crack that WIP KAL I am doing with Alissa of AlissaMakes I am making good progress on my She Makes Waves pullover. I’ve got a little left to do on the second sleeve and a lot of ends to weave in. I may also have to add some length. I don’t like cropped length sweaters, and it is seeming a little short to me. But we shall see. And I’m also working on a pair of socks. They will eventually have a mothman stranded colorwork pattern near the ribbing, but for now they are just dark socks. First off – Happy New Year! I finished out the year with one last completed project – the socks I started working on earlier this month That’s actually what I did on NY eve – finished these socks and watched the new season of Midsummer Murders Although I have a lot of WIPs left over from this last year, I didn’t do too badly for getting things finished, all things considered. 2025 finishes: – 3 sweaters – 5 pairs of socks – 1 hat – 2 cowls – 4 shawls – untold numbers of knitted jewelry I do have some plans for 2026 knitting, mainly a Crack That WIP KAL with Alissa from Alissa Makes .
